Financially backed by Esure, GoCompare.com is now increasing it's prominence by high profile advertising, such as sponsorship of ITV National weather.
Launched in November 2006 by Hayley Parsons, one of the original members of confused.com, they compare around 50 providers and guarantee that the premiums quoted on Go Compare will be the same as those quoted directly by the insurers it compares. They ahave a unique 5 star rating system which helps you choose on cover and not just price alone. If using GoCompare you also get a quote from Tesco Compare to include policies from the RBS insurers.

Onwed by BISL Limited, comparethemarket.com covers a wide range of providers with over 400 policies included in their quote system. Big names such as Axa, Endsleigh, Norwich Union and the Post Office as well as high street brands such as Marks & Spencer and Debenhams feature on their quoting panel. The quote form is very clear, untuitive and a bit more detailed but this improves the accuracy of your quotes. Compare The Market states quite clearly the price you see is the price you pay. Again, doesn't include RBS insurance companies so check TescoCompare.com as well. Compare >
New to the insurance compariosn field, but not to online motor insurance, supermarket giant Tesco have opened their own car insurance comparison site, TescoCompare.com backed by the huge RBS Group. Really worthwhile getting a quote from them as they feature most of the RBS owned car insurers – with the exception of Direct Line, who refuse to appear on any comparison site. The site gives a long list of options that can be added to your policy as extras so you can tweak your quote to your exact needs.Currently Tesco Compare offers a limited panel (just 25 brands at launch), with a number of major UK insurers missing from the comparison lineup, so try some of the other sites as well.

Quotezone.co.uk is an independent comparison site for UK car insurance quotes, with a unique “Quick-Click” car insurance system to search over 80 different companies with just one form! Compare quotes from leading-name brands and niche brokers such as Endsleigh, Yes, Budget, Flux Direct, Quinn Direct, MoreTh>n, and many more.

Part of the Admiral Group, Confused.com claims to compare quotes from companies that collectively service over 97% of the UK car insurance market. They are the original and certainly most well known car insurance comparison site however they don’t feature RBS insurers on their panel. The quote form is lengthy which is actually a good thing, because it improves accuracy so the quote that you get from confused.com is the rate that you’ll pay if you choose one of their insurers. Once again, we suggest you try some of the others as well to ensure the broadest comparison. Don't be Confused >
Direct Line Car Insurance
It is definately worth mentioning Direct Line, who refuse to appear on any comparison website. As one of the original "direct insurers" in the UK you could be missing out on a good deal better, so get quote from this RBS brand as well. Quote >
